This branding redesign of the Teatro di Cestello, located in Florence, Italy, blends a modern and elegant design with a playful design. The Teatro is a community theater located on the less-touristy side of Florence, the Altarno. Most significant is the location of the theater across from a dam on the Arno.
At this break in the Arno, the water drop causing a refraction in the reflection on the river. This branding identity is based on that idea of refraction, causing the letter "C" to split apart.
The theater's current visual language is very inconsistent and their logo, the only consistent element, is often small and hard to decipher.
This new branding identity for the theater takes their logo and simplifies it to reflect the simplicity of the theater and also bring a more vivid identifying mark.
The logo can be used in any bright color to reflect the playfulness and variety of the performances brought to the theater.
